    1.except表示只是单纯地将其后所接的人或事物排除在外; except for表示“除了…”“只是…”,引述一个相反的原因或细节,部分地修正了句中的意思。
    2.前后有相称的同类语时,只能用except,不用except for。
  • except, but
  • 这两个词都表示“除…外”。but和except都表示从整体中除去部分,但在but的句子里,着重在整体; 在用except的句子里,着重在除去的部分。

  • 这组词语都可译为“除了”，但含义并不相同：except (for)表示排除意义，即“除了…别无”； besides表示补充意义，即“除了…尚有”；而apart from 则既表示排除意义，又可以表示补充意义。
